A set of four dock lines is used to "make fast". Because the location of mooring cleats and pilings varies from dock to dock, having dock lines that are too long is usually preferable to having dock lines that are too short. A dock line must be robust and elastic (to absorb shock loads) as well as resistant to abrasion, UV rays, and decay to hold your boat in place at the dock. As a result, nylon, which possesses a combination of all of these characteristics, is an excellent choice.
Twisted Nylon Dock Lines are made entirely of high-quality twisted three-strand nylon. They combine tremendous strength with remarkable stretch to withstand the stress loads of boat wakes and harbor waves. Chafe is blocked by superior abrasion resistance. Each line is hand-spliced with five tucks, a yacht whipped at the splice spot by an expert.
