SENDER (F90405)

SENDER (F90405) also known as sending unit, to the fuel gauge. It measures the amount of fuel in the tank and sends the information to the vessel's fuel gauge on the dashboard. It's also connected to a float that moves with the tank's fuel level. The gauge needle moves in response to resistance changes. The sending unit moves in conjunction with the fuel level. Near the top of the fuel tank is the sending unit. It's a small round plate with two wire connections on both sides. As the float moves from full (up) to empty (down), the sender's resistance (ohms) varies (down).

SENDER (F90405)has two wires, one for the ground, following the American Boat and Yacht Council standards. The gauge's three connections are the ground (black), the sender (pink), and the 12-volt DC positive. The positive wire will be red if it is connected to an accessory switch, and purple if it is connected to the key switch. Additionally, embossed markings on the gauge's back will indicate which terminal (S for the sender, G for ground).
