The supply line that moves oil from your oil storage tank to the furnace is known as an oil line. Oil lines were often buried underground or directly enclosed in the concrete floor of basements in older homes. The strength of these lines doesn't withstand time. They were brass, copper, iron, or steel. In addition to cracks caused by the natural shifting and settling of the concrete and soil they are in, they are also vulnerable to corrosion from moisture in the ground, concrete, and water exposure. A fuel line is a nitrile tube that can withstand heat, ozone, and weathering and is resistant to petroleum products. It can be used with diesel fuel and fuel containing ethanol. However, on oil or coolant systems, avoid using it.
