3/8" BARB_1/4" NPT BRASS ASV- 033807-10 when the engine is turned off, it prevents raw cooling water from dripping into the cylinders through the exhaust ports in the block and into the exhaust manifold. The brass valves offer anti-siphon protection and comply with ABYC H-24 specifications.

It prevents discharge water from backing up into the head and perhaps into the boat. When the head is below the maximum-heeled waterline, a similar valve also helps avoid water siphoning in the head intake line.
