The engine's crankshaft is attached to a belt-driven device called a water pump. Its function is to move liquid from the radiator to the engine so that it can stay cool. When the engine is running, the pump circulates fluid using centrifugal force. The cylinder head and engine block both get the fluid. Finally, it returns to the pump after passing the radiator.
