A mechanical gasket called an O-ring handles compression between two parts and is positioned inside grooves. They become one of the most prevalent seals used in machine design when this works to form a seal. O-rings serve as a sealing device, and their primary function is to stop fluid or air leaks. The ring takes up the clearance when it is squeezed between two surfaces, preventing any fluid or air from escaping. They keep their shape, so upon release, they will automatically take on their original form. O-rings can seal with little or no pressure. O-ring contracts against the groove wall when pressure is applied, causing expansion in the opposite direction.
