The thermostat maintains the proper operating temperature of your engine. The temperature is well-indicated on your boat's instrument panel. Excessively high temperatures are caused by an obstruction in the cooling water inlet, cooling pipes, heat exchanger, or a broken impeller. If the meter reads a temperature too low, the cause is a defective thermostat. Nordica Marine stocks a wide range of thermostats for Volvo Penta engines such as the MD11, B30, AQ165A, and V8. You always have a spare thermostat on board. When the engine is running, thermostats control the temperature of the cooling water (jacket water). When the engine is cold, the thermostat permits it to heat up rapidly and maintain the desired temperature.
