The thermostat blanking sleeve is recommended when removing the thermostat, which is a personal preference of sure engine builders to reduce the running temperature. It enables optimum coolant circulation to the cylinder head to prevent overheating of cylinders three and four. Blank off the area where the bypass hose is fit. The thermostat sleeve is usually found on the engine block or cylinder head and serves as a coolant outlet in many internal combustion engines. Engine coolant runs continuously through ports in the blocks and head, past the thermostat housing, and into the radiator, where it is cooled.
