PTFE Packing, also known as Teflon Packing, is made of high purity PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene, Teflon) filament. The PTFE material has low friction and excellent chemical resistance. PTFE Braided Packing is resilient, chemical resistant, self-lubricating, and capable of withstanding high linear speed and pressure while causing minimal shaft wear. PTFE Packing is a valve and pumps packing material. It is especially suitable for corrosive media, high-speed applications, and applications requiring clean and low-contamination material. To calculate flax packing size, multiply the shaft diameter by the I.D. and multiply by .5 the length of the packing nut This size corresponds to the flax packing size for all prop shaft and rudder shaft boxes.
