The best sealer, preserver, and finish for safeguarding teak from the sun and elements is teak oil. Apply with a fresh cloth, sponge, or brush to dry teak surfaces. To enhance oil penetration into the wood, apply oil in the direction of the wood grain. After waiting five minutes, use a fresh cloth to wipe affected surfaces clean for extra oil. If the wood is very porous, use a second coat. Since teak oil absorbs moisture and UV rays, not advised to use it on outdoor decks, below-the-waterline wood surfaces, or indoor flooring. Apply using a brush or cloth, wait 6–8 hours before using it, and allow each application to dry for 30–60 minutes.
