The stator, which can be well-found in electric generators, electric motors, sirens, mud motors, or biological rotors, is the stationary component of a rotating system. A stator is a conduit for energy going to or coming from the system's rotating part. The stator creates a magnetic field that powers the revolving armature in an electric motor; in a generator, the stator transforms the rotating magnetic field into an electric current. The stator controls fluid flow to or from the rotating component of a fluid-powered device.
