A starting solenoid transfers energy from the battery to the starter motor in any boat with an electric start. Electrical power is converted into mechanical work by the solenoid. The coil comprises several rounds of tightly wound copper wire, and when an electrical current flows through this wire, a dynamic magnetic field or flux is created.
