The SENDER (F90516) sensor measures the amount of fuel in the tank and transmits the data to the vessel's gauge on the dashboard. The tank's sending unit travels along with the fuel level. SENDER (F90516) is a two-wire connection on a small round plate near the top of the fuel tank. The sender's resistance (ohms) varies as the float moves from full (up) to empty (down) (down). The gauge needle moves in response to resistance changes.
SENDER (F90516) - In accordance with the American Boat and Yacht Council standards, the sender has two wires: black for the ground and pink for the sender. The ground (black), the sender (pink), and the 12-volt DC positive are the three connections on the gauge. If the positive wire is connected to an accessory switch, it will be red, and if it is connected to the key switch, it will be purple. Also, embossed markings on the back of the gauge will show which terminal is which (S for the sender, G for ground).
