A spark plug is an electronic device that inserts into the cylinder head of some internal combustion engines and ignites compressed aerosol gasoline with an electric spark. An insulated center electrode is connected to an ignition coil or magneto circuit on the exterior via a substantially insulated wire, generating a spark gap within the cylinder with a grounded terminal on the plug's base. These plugs are set throughout the engine block and cylinder head in various locations. Their function is to fill holes in and the head left by the casting process. They also provide weak points in the engine that can give way under the pressure of expanding coolant if it freezes or overheats.
