Bolts and rivets are replaced by clevis pins as a simple and reliable fastener. A clevis pin is put through the holes at the pronged ends of a clevis and is held in place by a cotter pin. It is a flat or domed head on one end and a cross-hole at the other. A clevis' typical use is to fasten and secure goods to trailers, pickup trucks, and construction equipment. Even to secure weights to an aircraft, clevises can be employed. Clavius pins stop two objects from moving concerning each other, much like a set screw, but they are less adaptable because they lock the pieces in a single position.
