The ignition module is in charge of spark plug ignition. For the engine to work properly, each spark plug must burn at precisely the appropriate time. The ignition module determines the time to fire the spark plugs using data from the crankshaft position sensor or camshaft position sensor. The module receives a continuous stream of low voltage current from the regulator, stores it briefly, and then allows the current to charge and the voltage to rise.
