Aluminum or titanium, which is more expensive, is used for the compressor impeller. Splines from a single casting hold it to the rotor shaft. The compressor and turbine impeller are two examples of the components found on the massive and intricately designed turbocharger rotor shaft. Rotor assembly consists of a rotor shaft and a die-cast rotor. These parts may be machined and assembled, only partially machined and assembled, or both. The economical aspects, size, unit volume, and desired electric motor efficiency—all of which are influenced by efficiencies and the air gap between the rotor and the stator—are among the other issues.
