LOWER SHIFT CABLE KIT - Mercury (118-2604)

Worn shift cables might cause shifting problems. As a result, your gears may be damaged. If your boat is difficult to shift, try our new Lower Shift Cables for the smoothest shifting possible. Extreme Shift Cables or Lower Shift Cable kits are used in kit parts with an E suffix. Shift cable kits include all of the necessary gaskets, bellows, and ends for installation. Caution: some earlier models may have had aft installation cables retrofitted. Examine the way your current line is threaded in.

Keep the following in mind when changing the shift selector cable:

• If only cable ends are required or can be modified, a mechanic will attempt to re-use your old line. A cable replacement will be conducted if the steel strands of the cable show substantial corrosion or if the cable is sticking or binding in its plastic sheath.
