Evinrude, Johnson and Gale Outboard Motors COBRA SHIFT ASSIST MODULE (118-5890)

A Cobra shift assist module is interchangeable and replaced with the following part numbers CDI 123-9898P, Mallory 9-24502, OMC 987740, 985902. The Shift Assist Module will not work with a V-8. It will work in a 4cylinder 2.3 cobra as the highness is set up for both 5.7 and 4.3, and the four-cylinder is Cobra outdrive. This electronic shift assist module is an electronic device that helps lower engine RPMs and lightens the load on the outdrive gears. The lower RPMs, the less load on the gears, and the fit becomes effortless for the dog-style clutch to shift gears.
