A distributor cap is a detachable device that is used in spark ignition systems to protect both the distributor and the rotor. In addition to preserving these components and keeping them from contamination, distributor caps are also responsible for assisting in sending electrical power from an ignition coil to a set of spark plugs. Without a high-quality distributor cap, no tune-up is complete.
