The propeller hub is generally housed in the propeller and attached to the outboard power shaft of the motor's lower unit in a marine application. The propeller hub is the crucial link between the power-generating engine and the propeller that generates movement in either case.
The solid central disk that fits with the propeller shaft and the blades are attached is known as the propeller hub. The hub should ideally be as tiny as feasible in diameter to achieve optimum thrust. However, there is a cost associated with both size and strength. A too-small hub will not be powerful enough in the end.
Thanks to a propeller-mounted hub, the unit is replaced and serviced as a single entity. If any portion of the propeller or hub is damaged, both pieces must be removed and replaced, or the entire unit must be replaced. Due to the tendency of a boat propeller to collide with a submerged object, the propeller must be able to slip on the hub in order to decrease the risk of damage to the outboard motor's complete lower unit.
