Base Gasket - Sierra Marine Engine Parts - 18-0692 (118-0692)

Base gaskets form a seal between your engine's top end and the engine casings. Stop those troublesome engine oil leaks before they ruin the engine you spent so much time fixing. The base gasket, on the other hand, is made up of a rubber and fiber mixture known as a joint sheet, which may be cut out of a universal gasket sheet. The base gasket essentially shortens the cylinder while the crank continues to pull the piston up the same amount. The air/gas mixture is driven into a smaller space by the smaller base gasket, resulting in higher compression.
