Anodes are aspect of the boat maintenance cycle because they protect submerged metals from galvanic corrosion. Aluminum, magnesium, and zinc are the three metals used to make boat anodes, also known as sacrificial anodes. Your boat is composed of at least two metals in most circumstances, but zinc is the third metal that has been given up. Because your boat is usually on the water, a zinc anode is essential to keep the engine and propeller working for a long time.
As previously stated, the purpose of a boat anode is to protect parts of the boat from corrosion. When two metals with different characteristics are electrically linked and submerged in a conductive fluid, galvanic corrosion occurs, causing them to become electronegative. When 50% of the anodes have decayed or disintegrated, we recommend replacing them once a year.
