The 7/16-inch SS SHAFT KEY is a full-length shaft constructed of high-grade stainless steel (303 grade), keyed, and machined to precision and marine tolerances. The key-way on this shaft has a 1 34" shaft diameter. Their edges are beveled to remove sharp corners to prevent damage to bearings, housings, and other components during installation. Each piece is cast, ground, and polished to exact diameter and straightness specifications.
Although less corrosion-resistant than aluminum and stainless steel shafts, steel shafts are often better than those materials. These shafts made of 1045 carbon steel are perfect for general-purpose application because they balance high strength and machinability. While stainless steel shafts are more resistant to corrosion than steel shafts, they are also more challenging to the mill.
