By fouling injectors, blocking carburetor jets, and producing a variety of other running issues, bad fuel may quickly damage outboard engines, shortening their lifespan and incurring expensive repair costs.
Before they reach your engine, contaminants or water are captured by a water-separating gasoline filter. The filtration system's working premise is surprisingly straightforward: a holding tank or bowl sits at the bottom of the filter, with a paper element at the top. Water sinks to the bottom of the filter because it is heavier than gasoline and stays there until empty. The clear bowl style of water separators is the best. They let you observe if water is accumulating at the system's base and drain it using the built-in tap.
