The butt splice connector, despite its misleading name, is a rather common and functional connector used in electrical operations. A butt splice connector is a type of connector known as a "crimp." Crimp connectors connect two wires or properly terminate cables. The wire is pinched into contact with the metal inside the connector resulting from this crimping. Crimping the wire on the other end is an option for terminating it. The butt splice connector is a crimp connector with one crimp on each end. Heat shrinking ends are on some butt splice connections, which contract around the wire when subjected to heat, resulting in a better seal between the wire and the butt splice connector.
